Thank you for stopping by so I can share my story with you. I am Holly. I have a Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy with over 25 years in the health and fitness industry. I created Stronger Movement to help women, like you, incorporate strength training into their busy lives.
My life purpose is to help you become stronger
My passion for health and fitness began as a freshman in college when I started attending group fitness classes and lifting weights. During this time, I realized I had the ability to transform my body, mind, and soul through movement. It was so clear to me that my life purpose was to help others become healthier through exercise. It was such a pivotal time in my life that it set me on the course to where I am today.
Although, I found my life purpose in my early 20s, I took a hard and long road to working in the health and fitness industry. With a Bachelors in Business, I worked as a financial analyst with a side job as a certified group fitness instructor and personal trainer.
As a personal trainer, I quickly realized that if I am giving health and fitness advice, I am showing up with as much knowledge as possible to help others achieve their health and fitness goals. So I pursued a Masters in Physical Education and Athletic Administration with my thesis researching the physical activity and fitness of U.S. adults. I walked away with this degree more convinced me that I wanted to play a part in getting more people to move their bodies.
After finishing my Masters degree, I worked in spa and fitness management. Although I did not anticipate this career path, it perfectly combined my passion for business and health into a more holistic approach. It also brought me into the yoga and pilates world, which provided a balance to my more cardio and strength workouts.
Shortly after getting married, my husband and I were stationed in San Antonio, Texas where I completed my Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy. This was my final big educational endeavor to learn the foundations for providing the most research-based and result-driven information to help others improve their health and fitness through movement.
A girl that likes to sweat
Maybe I spent too much time in the gym, but I found a new euphoria with long distance running. After finishing my first marathon, my body and mind craved the challenge of more marathons. I feel in love with how running provided me with this dichotomy of being fully energized and alive while simultaneously calm and connected.
My husband and I share the same passion for endurance sports so we love training together for events. I was able to finish the Ironman Coeur d’Alene which was a huge accomplishment for a girl that does not like swimming in cold water. With logging miles in swimming, running, and cycling,
Strength training + cardio
I admit that I have neglected strength training because I had limited time to work out -and that time was going to be spent on running or yoga. Although I spent a lot time working out, I was not maximizing my performance because I was not supplementing with strength training. I also was having a harder time with changing my body composition.
My world changed with the birth of my son. He definitely has been the most amazing blessing to my life! He has shifted my focus on being more effective during my workouts since time is much more limited now. With working out at home during his naps, I started prioritizing strength training. Without realizing it, I had reignited my passion for strength training. It feels like I am coming full circle with where I started in the fitness world with incorporating strength training with my other passions.
You can become Stronger
My path to creating Stronger Movement has been the result of many years of education, experience, and personal trial and error. It has lead me to this place where I am on a mission to help you make strength training a part of your life. It is a vital piece to the health and fitness puzzle. Now let’s get Stronger.
